Tiramisu
(lit. in Italian, "pick me up," "cheer me up")

A tuxedo stray (once) kitten (now) cat that was dropped off in front of my mail box when she was just three weeks old.

I would like to extend my heartful thanks to the cat/kitten rescue organization I partake in. If you are local to LA county or OC and are looking to adopt a furrever feline furball, please don't hesitate to contact me - mtyuan@uci.edu

We have lots of kitties that are looking for furrever homes!

Feline Checklist

  • Unapologetically sits in front of the television when you're using it. Or blocks it with her entire body.
  • Likes to hunt flying insects. Excels in swatting and catching flies. Struggles with moths though (but she tries).
  • Your desserts are never safe with her, especially your Portuguese egg tarts. Probably shouldn't put Porto's on your desk either, lest you fancy her taking a bite.

Earrings

When I was taking my design-and-prototype class during my Master's, I made video game-inspired earrings.

When I posted them a my Instagram story, my humble following requested that I make more to eventually sell them one day - so that's what I do now in my off-time!

Art

I'm a part-time art student, so you'll find me drawing in my off-time too.

I see art as I see the lessons of life.

We're gifted this life to learn, to improve ourselves, and to grow compassion and empathy. To me, growing as an artist reminds me the journey of simply being human: we are never perfect (just as our art pieces are never perfect), and we're always a work-in-progress (just like our art journey).

However, we have the boundless tenacity to persevere when we are unsatisfied - to pick ourselves up from disappointment, defeat, and sometimes even despair. Similar to artist who continues to draw, even when they face the frustrations, disappointments, and satisfaction towards their own artistic expectations.
